The Sigma lens is not weather sealed. While both lenses have the same list price, the 7-year-older Sigma is seeing decision-factor-strength instant rebates at review time. So I shot all day with the loaned EF 24-105mm f4L IS USM II the weather was very cold, windy but dry at the coast. The shots I did were a mixture of geometrical shapes with stone walls or shooting into the low setting sun during the day. followed by shooting stars & the milky way when it was dark (with also the 5D MKIV after dark).
Its successor, the 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM, though, seems to be having a few teething troubles. Imaging resource mentioned the service notice a couple of weeks ago. But it wasn’t corroborated by any other Canon sources, and was quickly removed from the Canon Philipines website. Canon USA have now announced that certain examples of this lens
Re: Canon EF 24-105mm F4L IS II USM In reply to ASR45 • 1 month ago I also have a very sharp copy. 105/4 center is even a bit sharper than Canon 24-70/2.8Lii at 70mm and 70-200/2.8Lii at 200mm.
